The Beans

The Beans

November 06, 2019 2 Comments

We're very excited to announce the launch of our first seasonal meal - The Beans. Our inspiration came from many trips into Nelson Lakes National Park where we'd ponder over what else we could make for breakfast. The Beans started out as a riff off of the kiwi classic baked beans but upgraded to become a whole lot more. Its ideal as a breakfast but equally suited for dinner time too. Andy our resident carnivore has been demolishing it for lunch every day for the last few weeks and gives it two thumbs up.

To make The Beans we sweat onion, capsicum and garlic before adding our tangy wilderness sauce followed by a heap of the most tender black beans you've ever tried. Like all of our meals its 100% freeze dried with no preservatives or additives.

Available online now and through all of our retailers.

These are utterly delicious and went down well with the vegan in our group too.

I was curious to taste these beans as I’d read an uncomplementary review. However I’m pleased to say I found them delicious witout being a direct copy of the traditional NZ baked bean recipe. Because I am vegan and must also be gluten free they were great as an evening meal.
My one regret is that apart from a dessert type recipe, the beans are the only meal I can buy from you despite my need of variation in my diet over a longer trip. It’s the dried packet meals that I need for a longer trip and hope you can do some type of a tasty dahl meal or garbanzo bean dish or anything else you might come up with that will be suitable for me on both counts of G/F and Vegan needs. I also appreciate the way you save space in the pack by expelling all air. Pleas consider this request seriously.
